Gigabyte removes PCIe 4.0 support from Pre-X570 mobos

Gigabyte has released a new firmware with AGESA 1.0.0.3 ABB microcode for AMD for the 300- and 400- series motherboards it’ll release. The firmware revision has removed the PCIe 4.0 functionality from the motherboards.

The pre-X570 mobos have physical limitations for the functionality. The change is effective as of the F42a BIOS.

At this point, we’re not sure whether AGESA 1.0.0.3 ABB microcode is responsible for the removal or Gigabyte has removed it on its own. At this point, we can’t tell because Gigabyte is the only motherboard manufacturer to deploy new firmware with the new microcode.
The pre-X570 mobo users are really in a tough situation right now – should they upgrade, they lose the PCIe 4.0 support, should they not, they lose out on a certain new features.
