The Change Facebook is bringing!

Checking Facebook messages and updating one’s status is an everyday fixture of millions of people around the world.

It’s phenomenal success turned Mark Zuckerberg into one of the richest persons in the world.

It seemed that things couldn’t go wrong for Facebook but they did indeed, and that’s what made it bring out some major changes on its platform.

Facebook wants to wipe its slate clean, brings out more ‘social’ features

The world’s biggest social network; Facebook has redesigned its app.

It has done this to transform itself into a private messaging and an e-commerce company.

It will help in tapping new revenue sources besides moving past scandals over violations of users' data privacy and propaganda through its platform.

What will change?

First and foremost, Facebook has ditched the signature blue banner that has been on the app since its launch.

The most popular features among users like Stories and videos, are being loaded with new tools and given increased prominence across the platforms.

Facebook Messenger users will be able to watch videos together as well as view each other's reactions in simultaneous texts and video chats.

Sellers on Marketplace will likewise receive payments and arrange to ship directly within Facebook.

Facebook has brought out a new "Secret Crush" feature that allows users to explore potential romantic relationships within their friend circle.

The company also hopes to attract businesses by introducing a tool for booking appointments.

Need of the Hour

Nearly all of Facebook’s revenue ($56 billion in 2018) comes from ads viewed by 2.7 billion people via its various apps each month.

But worryingly it is no longer able to add new users in the U.S and Europe, which are its most lucrative markets.

Therefore, it is looking towards new venues to create additional revenue to sustain its growth.
