The big change in Instagram!

For some of us, Instagram ‘likes’ matter a lot.

Its healthy dose brightens up their day but if that isn’t so, their anxiety levels can rise.

Now Insta has come up with an interesting idea to deal with it.

The heart of the matter

Instagram hides 'likes' count in international test 'to remove pressure’

After starting out in Canada, Instagram is now hiding the number of likes on posts in Australia, NewZealand, Italy, Japan etc. in order to "remove pressure" on users.

What will change?

At the moment, an Instagram user can see the count of people who have liked his/her post of photos or videos.

Insta will now remove the public view of that figure, but the owner of the account will still be able to see them.

Why was it needed?

The number of likes, a social media post gets, is a measure of it’s success or popularity.

There is now a real concern that if one doesn’t get as many likes as expected, it can add to his/her low self-esteem and feelings of inadequacy.

This can also affect that person’s mental health.

Another welcome step

This trial has come just weeks after Instagram revealed a new feature to tackle online bullying.

It will use Artificial intelligence to tell users when a comment could be considered offensive before it's posted.
